Using ResearchMaster

Can I change which data is displayed on the control desk?

The control desk in ResearchMaster is where records are displayed:

Control Desk

It is possible to change the columns visible on the control desk. These changes are specific to your username and will be visible even if you log into ResearchMaster on another computer.

  • From the Settings menu > Control Desk Preferences.
  • Select the tab of the module you wish to change.
  • Click on the [Load all fields] button. This will list all the fields available to you in the first column.
  • Use the [>] and [<] buttons to add or remove fields from the first column to the second column. The second column lists the fields that will be displayed on the control desk.
  • Use the [>] and [<] buttons to add or remove fields from the second column to the third column. The third column is used to determine the order of the data on the control desk.
  • Click on the Save Changes to Record button on the toolbar.

Do I have to keep re-sizing the control desk columns?

Unfortunately every time you perform a search in ResearchMaster, you will have to re-size the columns on the control desk.

What do those buttons at the side mean?

The buttons on the side of the screen are the Toolbar. If you have read-only access, most of the buttons will be disabled. However all users will have access to the buttons which will allow you to view a record View current record , run a report Report , bring up the selection criteria screen Selection Criteria and exit an active window Exit

Can I resize or move the data entry form?

Yes. Just as you can move and resize other screens in Windows, it is possible to move and resize the data entry for (or viewing form if you only have read-only access).

To move the form, click and drag on the titlebar with your mouse.

To resize the form, click on the borders of the form once your mouse cursor changes shape. Then drag to the appropriate size.

The form has disappeared, how do I get it back?

Sometimes the form or window you are using will disappear because it has been minimised or another form or window is hiding it. To find a list of open forms or windows, go to the Window menu at the top of the screen. The drop-down menu will display a list of the open forms, select the one you want and it will move to the front of your screen.
