General Questions

Who created ResearchMaster?

ResearchMaster was developed by a Melbourne-based company named ResearchMaster Pty Ltd.

What is the relationship between the data in ResearchMaster and the other QUT systems such as Callista, QUT Virtual and Oracle Financials?

Currently ResearchMaster extracts student data for the postgraduate module such as their personal details, course and supervisor details from Callista. Data that flows into Callista from QUT Virtual (eg student addresses) will subsequently flow into ResearchMaster. Email addresses for staff and students are extracted from QUT Virtual. Additional information that is not stored in Callista or QUT Virtual (eg candidature milestones) is entered into ResearchMaster.

ResearchMaster also has an interface with Oracle Finance to bring across year to date financial data for projects in the Grants module.  It widens the scope of the financial data to see transactions alongside full project details (such as researchers, title, budget) but does not aim to replace the level of transaction detail achievable through Oracle Financials.

Will I still need to use Callista, QUT Virtual and Oracle Financials once I have ResearchMaster?

ResearchMaster does share much data with these other systems however depending on your information requirements you may still need to use these other systems.  Each of the systems provides further data which is not stored in ResearchMaster and vice versa.  ResearchMaster provides a central tool from which the general management of students and projects can be undertaken.  For more information on each of the interfaces with other QUT systems please refer to our Related Systems page.
